Environmental Health Practitioner

- Usually cover housing, public health, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and pollution control.
- Carrying out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure health and safety legislation and taking action to improve conditions
- investigate outbreaks of infectious diseases and prevent it spreading any further.
- Starting salary around $20,000 - $30,000.
- Senior/managerial level (10-15 years in role) salary is around $30,000 - $60,000.
- Work for 9am to 5pm, 35 - 40-hour week from Monday to Friday.
- Working conditions can be dirty and unpleasant, e.g. inspecting unclean or unsafe buildings.
- Education includes sciences and math; sciences include chemistry, biology and physics.
