This artifact is the movie called “Outbreak” that we watched in class for the biodiversity unit. This movie was about the medical outbreak of a virus carried by animals that caused the victims to slowly become sick and die. This is a significant artifact in this unit because this movie helped me realize the ways viruses hijack your immune system and can cause someone to perish. This movie helped realize how deadly viruses can be, and how weak other viruses compared to the one in the movie are, which teaches us about how resistant some of these organisms can be to antibiotics. This can be applied from our classroom to real life by knowing the dangers of viruses and being aware of different viruses or infections around the world. This helps to understand the topic as it helps explain the effects of what some viruses do and what they are capable of doing.
